To reach the kids that have the talent but are limited on resource. Want to give those kids an opportunity to be able to play. In reality, most of our kids that come to our team are from the inner city, low income homes, and single parent homes as well. A lot of the kids that reach out to us are kids that see nothing but drugs, violence, or even worst death around them. Our goal is to help these kids realize that they don’t have to be a product of their environment. That if they have dreams or goals that they can reach them instead of go the east route. With our kids we see that. When we take those 100 dollars, to make sure that we have a gym for them to practice in. Or making sure that their able to go out of town and get the opportunity to make something for themselves and their families. Making sure that they eat, teaching them more than just about basketball, teaching them about life. That our goal. We have kids that have lost their love ones to senseless acts of violence. We have kids that parent have nothing but would make sure that their child is able to go pursue his dreams. Our goal is to continue to make sure that these kids know that they have people behind them, people that will give them whatever they need to be successful. People that won’t tell them what they want to hear but tell them what they need to hear. People that love them. I myself have a love for this that is unexplainable. What I get out of this is pure joy to see one of my guys come to me and say, coach thank you, thank you for believing in me, thank you for being real with me, thank you for being more than a coach for me. That my joy. And the guys around me feel the same way. So we’re a travel AAU basketball program, but we are A LOT more than just basketball. We travel to specific events that will give our guys the greatest chances of going on to play collegiate basketball if they choose and any level.
Not all of our kids are unable to pay their fee. The ones that are able to it usually helps the ones that can’t. Along with the donations we plan to accommodate the kids that are unable to afford the registration fee. We just don’t have them not do any work to help toward their fee, we’ve started a fundraiser, and offered each kid a prize for just getting a certain amount in fundraising, and a grand prize for the kids that raise the most.
All in All, our plan is to help and mentor the kids in our program. Not just with basketball, but give them the tools to be able to get Recruited. Know which tests are needed and place them in programs where they get the tools needed to excel. Get our kids on a lot of plate forms with film, that would be seen by college coaches that inquire about a kid in our program.
